The Truman Doctrine was a policy set forth by the U.S. President Harry S. Truman in a speech on May 12, 1947 stating that the U.S. would support Greece and Turkey with economic and military aid to prevent their falling into the Soviet sphere. Historians often consider it as the start of the Cold War. "The policy of the United States to support free people who are resisting attempted subjugation by armed minorities or by outside pressure."
(Officially the European Recovery Program, ERP) was the large scale American program to aid Europe where the United States gave monetary support to help rebuild European economies after the end of WW2 in order to prevent the spread of Soviet Communism. The plan was in operation for four years beginning in April 1948.
North Atlantic Treaty Organization also called the North Atlantic Alliance is an intergovernmental military alliance based on the North Atlantic Treaty which was signed on April 4, 1949. The organization consitutes a system of collective defence where by its member states agree to mutual defense in response to an attack by any esternal party.
Warsaw Treaty Organization of Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance or the Warsaw Pact was a mutual defense treaty between eight communist states of Eastern Europe in existence during the Cold War. The founding treaty was established under the initiative of the Soviet Union and signed on May 14, 1955 in Warsaw.

He was responsible for the de-Stalinization of the Soviet Union and was in power the same time as Kennedy he is known for being short and bald, he was also in power during the tensest part of the cold war or the Cuban Missle Crisis.
Was the General Secretary of the Central Communist Party of the Soviet Union. He presided over the Soviet Union from 1964 till he died in 1982. During his reign the global influence of the Soviet Union increased dramatically which was due in part to the expansion of the Soviet Unions military, however the time of his leadership has often been criticized for marking the beginning of economic stagnation which eventually led to the dissolution of the Soviet Union. He was in power the same time as Nixon and he is known for his eybrows. The Brezhnev Doctrine stated that the Soviet Union would be able to invade its surrounding countries in order to preserve communism and in order to further the cause of communism.
Was the wall built to divide East and West Germany and it also divided Berlin. It was built by Eastern Germany, which was under the control of the Soviet Union at the time, it was made to conserve the ideas of the socialist party of Eastern Germany. However, eventually it was decided to do more harm than good and it was torn down in 1989.
The easing of strained relations, it is often used to reffer to relations between the Soviet Union and the United States.
