- Abnormal accumulation of CSF in the ventricles of the brain- May cause increased intracranial pressure inside the skull and progressive enlargement of the calvaria, causing head circumference to expand rapidly- One of the most common developmental disabilities- Caused by meningitis- Usually due to blockage of CSF outflow to the ventricles or excess production of CSF- A baby can survive a hydrocephalic episode better than an adult
