The Glorious Revolution of 1688 was when Mary and William (of Orange) invaded England. Mary and William (and their army) were welcomed in England, and Mary and William ruled England. This is called the Glorious Revolution because it was a revolution against James II without any deaths.In 1688 William of Orange and Mary overthrew King James !! of England at the request of the English parliament. William and Mary were put on the thrown under a constitutional monarchy, a system that continues to this day.
