With proper treatment, 4 out of 5 will improve.Dysthymic Disorder- Feeling down or sad for a majority of days over a 2-year period. Less intense than major depression. Feelings of hopelessness. Cognitive impairment, Loss of appetite/overeating, Fatigue, Low self-esteem, Sleep problems.Major Depressive Disorder- At least one major depressive episode. Depressed mood or loss of interest in pleasurable activities for at least 2 weeks. Majority of the following for most of the day and nearly every day: depressed mood, significant weight loss, insomnia, fatigue, feelings of worthlessness or guilt, diminished ability to concentrate, suicidal ideation.
