Attribution theory Explanations for behavior based on internal disposition or external situations. People are constantly trying to understand why others do the things they do. They may credit behavior to one’s personality or one’s environment. If somebody shouts at you in the parking lot, you might think that they are a jerk or that something bad must have happened to them.
