Endocrine system A chemical communication system that secretes hormones into the bloodstream. This system manufactures and secretes chemicals, called hormones, which influence one’s interest in sex, food, and aggression. (Drugs and rock and roll are regulated elsewhere.) This system is slow: hormones need several seconds to move from their glands to the target tissues.
